ABOUT

Rial Barnett started vintage racing after he told his wife Maureen that “he wanted to go from the best seat in the stands to the last place on the track.” It only took 2 years to start campaigning what would be his first racecar – the Eibach/Hot Wheels 1969 BMW 2002. This 2002 was raced in the Sports Car Vintage Racing Association (SVRA) series across the United States as well as in the Vintage Auto Racing Association (VARA) races in Southern California and with CSRG in Northern California. In 2018 at COTA, Rial finished in 2nd place in SVRA's B-Sedan Lite National Championship.

Rial purchased the Hyde Park #34 BMW 2002 in late 2021 with the intent to return the 2002 to it’s famous orange and blue MacMillan Oil Company livery. The car will be campaigned in Historic B & C Sedan events, Monterey Reunion, Velocity Invitational, CSRG, SVRA,and VARA events. An incredible amount of time and energy has gone into the research and restoration of the race car. Special thanks to Ken Blasko at Blasko Racing for quarterbacking the project with help from Mano Agulian, Paul Lefevre, Forrest Koogle and Matt Alcala from Best of Show.

B-Sedan the brand was created to celebrate all things B-Sedan: the cars, the drivers, the racetracks, famous feuds, and storied wins. We focus on what is known as the Golden Era of Trans-Am racing, the 1966-1972 seasons. Our merchandise and hosted events strive to tell these stories so that the next generation is equally obsessed.

When not racing in his B-Sedan, Rial can be found at Cars & Coffee in his 1967 BMW 2000TI with his wife and daughter or overseeing the restoration of a 1974 Alfa GTV.
